The Causal Chakra
A gateway of higher wisdom, moonlight intuition, and soul guidance
There’s a quiet place behind your head — just a few centimetres above the base of your skull — where something extraordinary lives. It’s not a thought, or a memory, or a sensation. It’s a listening space. A gateway. A gentle moonlit bridge between your soul’s eternal knowing and your mind’s unfolding understanding.
This is the Causal Chakra — a chakra you may not have heard much about, but one I’ve come to know as deeply supportive, especially during times of spiritual growth and awakening.
In this piece, I want to gently walk you through what the Causal Chakra is, how it supports your intuition and insight, and how you can begin to recognise and nurture it in your everyday life.
Where is the Causal Chakra?
The Causal Chakra sits just behind and slightly above the crown, about 8–10 cm behind the centre of your head. Some people visualise it like a shimmering orb floating behind you, others sense it more as a radiant pulse—subtle, yet deeply connected to the greater rhythms of the soul.
It’s sometimes referred to as the “Moon Gate”, and that imagery has always resonated with me—cool, reflective, a space where things soften and shift just before they become conscious thought.
What is the Causal Chakra for?
This chakra is a kind of translator between worlds. It helps you access:
Intuition that comes not from the mind, but from the soul
Karmic memory and soul-level wisdom that wants to gently rise into your awareness
The energetic blueprint of your intuitive gifts, gathered over lifetimes
When your Soul Star Chakra (which sits above your head) streams in divine insight, your Causal Chakra receives it first. It gently filters that light into something you can work with in your human life. It’s not just about big realisations — it’s about those quiet moment knowing, those dreams that stay with you, or that deep sense of truth you can’t quite explain.
It’s also linked to how you perceive symbols, dreams, visions, and abstract knowing. If you’ve ever had a moment of clarity that bypassed logic, it likely passed through your causal field first.
The Energy of the Causal Chakra
This chakra carries a frequency that is both feminine and celestial. It doesn’t shout for attention; it whispers. Its qualities are soft but powerful.
Colour: Shimmering white, with flashes of iridescent silver or moonlit tones
Sound frequency: A#
Element: Ether — the subtle space between all things
Planetary energy: The Moon — intuitive, subconscious, rhythmic
When it’s open and active, you might feel:
A clear inner knowing, even without proof
Meaningful dreams, synchronicities, and intuitive messages
Strong empathic or telepathic tendencies
A sense of being guided by something greater than yourself
When it’s blocked, you may feel:
Doubt in your intuition
Disconnection from inner guidance
Over-reliance on logic or fear of the unknown
Difficulty remembering dreams or trusting your spiritual gifts
Practices to Support the Causal Chakra
Like all subtle energy centres, the Causal Chakra responds best to gentle, intentional support. Here are some of the ways I’ve found to strengthen and open this chakra, both for myself and in client sessions:
1. Sound Healing
Sound speaks the language of this chakra fluently.
Use a tuning fork or sound bowl in A#, gently held behind the head,
Vocal toning with the vowel “A” (as in “ahhh”) can soften and open this area
Listen to calming lunar music or nature sounds under moonlight
2. Crystals
Three stones that offer a beautiful resonance:
Kyanite (especially blue): Clears old patterns and aligns the auric field
Selenite: Creates a clean channel for higher guidance
Moonstone: Deepens the connection to lunar cycles and feminine insight
People often place one of these crystals at the base of their head during rest or meditation, especially during full moon phases.
3. Moon Rituals
Because this chakra is so deeply attuned to the Moon:
Pay attention to emotional shifts during moon phases
Journal or sit in quiet meditation during a full or new moon
Allow the light of the moon to reflect what you need to see — it often shows us what is hidden, not with force, but with illumination
4. Symbolic Dreamwork
Keep a small notebook beside your bed and gently write down any dream fragments or symbols that stay with you. You don’t need to interpret them right away. Just hold them, and notice how they shift or echo in your waking life.
Often, the causal field speaks in symbols long before words.
5. Visualisation Practice
Here’s a gentle practice to try:
Sit or lie comfortably and bring your awareness to the back of your head. Imagine a soft glowing orb of white-silver light just behind your crown — floating, pulsing gently. As you breathe, invite this chakra to open. You might say to yourself:
“I am open to remembering. I allow divine insight to meet me with gentleness.”
Let the light grow or move as it wishes. You don’t need to control it — only witness and receive.
Why This Chakra Matters Right Now
We’re living in a time of rapid awakening — individually and collectively. For many people, the question is no longer “Is there more?” but rather “How do I live in alignment with what I now know?”
The Causal Chakra helps us integrate higher knowing without overwhelm. It slows the stream of soul information to a manageable, human pace — like a moonlit guide walking just a few steps ahead, showing you the path with each breath.
When this chakra is honoured, we begin to trust our deeper knowing. We become less reactive and more attuned. Less afraid of what we don’t understand, and more open to what might unfold.
In Healing Sessions
When I’m working in someone’s energy field and the Causal Chakra is needing activation or is imbalanced, I often find that:
They’re receiving guidance but second-guessing it
Past life memories or karmic contracts are ready to be seen and released
There’s a longing to trust one’s intuition, but past trauma or doubt is in the way
In sound therapy, I’ll often find a person’s causal chakra is needing sounding or support when; someone is in a deep phase of soul transition or awakening. It’s a way of saying: “You don’t have to understand it all today. Just let yourself remember slowly, in your own time.”
The Causal Chakra is not loud. It doesn’t demand anything of you. It waits, softly, behind your thoughts — inviting you to remember something deeper than you’ve been taught.
If you’re someone who feels like there’s more to your story, more to your wisdom than you can yet explain, this chakra is already open within you. You don’t need to force anything. Just begin by listening.
And if you’d like to explore this chakra with support, through sound, ritual, or intuitive healing, I’d be honoured to walk that path with you.
With gentleness,
Sarah
